4 Stars Very good item!
I really like this GPS. It helped me on my 6 hour trip recentally. The only problem is that the maps are not completely up-to-date it says some stores are there when they are actually out of business. I also don’t like that it takes you on a strange route sometimes when it could be so much easier.

5 Stars GREAT!!!!
I read many reviews before purchasing this GPS. Many said they can not hear it , Well I say to them TURN UP YOU HEARING AID. This GPS is not low I hear it just fine it is very clear and accurate. I have not had any problems with it. It has lane assistance , you can play music on it, hear a book, play games what more do you want. It routes trips for you even if you want to make a stops along the way and it puts them in order so you do not waste gas. It does not have a bluetooth but you should not talk on the phone and drive anyway even if it is hands free . Great GPS and a great price.

5 Stars Great!! Rview for Garmin Nuvi 855
What a great gps. I gave my compass to my grandson, and it is super to get into the car, input my destination, and away I go!!!

3 Stars Be prepared to make a quick lane change.
Pro-

Does a good recalculation when alternate route is selected

Provides advance directions when prompted prior to turn

Voice commands works well and is safer than finger pointing the screen.

Con-

At freeway speed advance warning for correct lane is incorrect and too late to make adjustment for left turn off freeway. 50 feet warning is tooo late to make lane changes across 5 lanes at 60 MPH.

Initial setup to apply software upgrade was not permitted on Microsoft Vista operating system unless a Safe boot is made. Garmin Help desk needs to know this, otherwise a manual time consuming method is required.

Volumn control needs to allow for higher setting than allowed, which would avoid rolling up windows to hear voice command.

Because the negatives factors out weigh the positives attributes of the Garmin 855 and they are critical to perform navigation, the 3 Star rating is appropriate until a software fix is installed. Othewise this is a good unit to help navigate you to your destination.

2 Stars Navigation’s OK, but battery life is POOR!
This model is not as good as previous units! Nav route selection has produced longer routes several time – older units selected proper routes.

“BIG” problem is that the battery life is 1/2 the advertised life, barely 2 hours. This means you use it plugged in on the road or take short trips. Not very handy for a portable gps unit when walking around either.

Garmin tech support said that it charges better when using the computer USB ports versus electric or car plugin(???), but to get the best battery life, disable the GPS??? Duh, what good is it then!

Mine’s on the return route now!

4 Stars Practical case that works on the go
This is an inexpensive way to protect and personalize your investment. Very stylish and improves look of Garmin GPS. I love it!

5 Stars Received Shipment in a timely manner.
Received Shipment in a timely manner. I will use the Vendor again in the near future.

5 Stars Its Perfect for my 60CSx
This case is perfect!

I was a bit worried when I ordered it with my 60CSx as some had mentioned that it interfers with the use of the buttons. Don’t worry it does not affect the use of buttons in the least (for me). Its a perfect fit, the antenna, belt clip button, Lanyards/Strap all have cutouts that are exact.

What more can I say, it works great and is a perfect design!

Steve

5 Stars Great case for the 60csx
I bought this case for my Garmin 60csx with the primary intention of keeping it protected. It does that very well. Nice snug fit, feels really good in your hand. Of course, the 4-way rocker button in the center is going to feel a little different in use because you’re moving it through a piece of clear plastic, but if that’s the “price” I have to pay to protect my expensive unit, so be it. Build quality is absolutely first rate. I am very happy with this case and have no reservations in recommending it to any Garmin 60 owner.

4 Stars It’s not exactly what you might think it is…
I needed to replace my eTrex Legend and bought the 60Cx and wanted a cover for it like I had on my eTrex. I purchased this cover and was quite surprised to see that although it covered the unit, there was no way to connect it to anything. My Garmin eTrex cover had come with it’s own clips so that you could attach it to your backpack, etc. This cover is just that… a cover and nothing more. You must purchase, separately, a clip device if you actually wish to hang your GPS on your backpack or where ever.

The cover itself seems nice and covers the unit well. Pushing the buttons through the plastic window is slightly cumbersome but that is expected. It’s rather a pain to put the cover on/off though when you have the lanyard and the button clip attached to your GPS. But all in all, it covers and protects your GPS screen which is why you’re buying the thing. But it should have a clip attachment on it or the fact that it doesn’t should be made quite clear.

Garmin A C Power Cable for n vi Portable GPS Navigators 010 10723 00

Every Garmin product is designed to meet the most demanding standard: customers’ satisfaction. That’s why Garmin equipment is manufactured to give you reliable service for years to come, with intuitive features you can grow into over time – all at a price you can afford. This product is an AC charger w/UK & Euro adapters.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Useful part for using Garmin at home
AC adaper is useful when you want to use Garmin at home as the USB does not function well.

4 Stars Satisfied with purchase
I would have liked the option of purchaing just the AC cable for less money, but I was happy that I found this on AMAZON for less than the asking price on the Garmin website. Works fine for my Garmin Nuvi 255WT. My GPS came with a charger for the car, but I wanted the option of charging indoors as well.

4 Stars Just Plug it In!
The title says it all. Plug in the AC block (after selecting the appropriate clip-in prongs), plug the other end into your Garmin Nuvi, and it’s “Charge!”.

One word of WARNING! It’s all too easy to pull the block from the wall and leave the prongs behind.

Be sure to pull PERPENDICULARLY to the wall.

1 Star Depending on your use, probably not necessary.
I read all the amazon reviews debating whether or not this charger was necessary and I ended up buying one to be safe. Well, in the course of a two week road trip, the charger never left its box, and likely never will. Our GPS system charged quickly just by using the lighter in the car, and it stayed charged for hours afterwards when we took it into hotels. Unless you plan to use your GPS as a walking/cylcling companion, and think you’ll rarely be setting foot in a car, there’s no point to getting the A/C charger.

5 Stars Foreign Travel
Exactly what I needed for our frequent travel overseas. I have Nuvi 760 which I will be using for auto and foot tours of Europe.

Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS Receiver

Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS Receiver

An essential for any outdoor excursion, the Garmin eTrex Venture HC helps you navigate through the toughest terrain. The unit is equipped with a high-sensitivity, WAAS-enabled GPS receiver, which locates your position quickly and precisely and maintains its GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The advantage is clear: whether you’re traipsing through thick woods or strolling near tall buildings and trees, you can count on the Venture HC to help you find your way when you need it the most. At the same time, the Venture HC’s easy-to-use menu lets you create and view waypoints (up to 500), save and view 10 track logs, access setup features, and more. It even offers 24 MB of internal memory and a detailed basemap, so you can load waypoints and routes from the included MapSource Trip & Waypoint Manager software and add map detail from Garmin’s entire line of optional MapSource mapping products.

Besides appreciating its small size, outdoorsmen will also be happy with the Venture HC’s unique button layout, with five buttons located on either side of the unit. The benefits of this design are twofold: First, the Venture HC is a breeze to operate with just one hand, and, second, with the buttons on both sides of the unit, the bulk of the front is dedicated to the 256-color, sunlight-readable TFT display. This makes it easy to distinguish map details regardless of the time of day.

The Venture HC’s basemap, meanwhile, contains lakes, rivers, cities, interstates, national and state highways, railroads, and coastlines–in short, a host of helpful details for your outdoor adventures. Other details include an IPX7 waterproof housing, a built-in patch antenna, a USB interface, a hunt/fish calendar, sun and moon information, and a geocaching mode. The Venture HC, which runs for up to 14 hours on a pair of AA batteries (not included), measures 2.2 by 4.2 by 1.2 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty.

What’s in the Box
eTrex Venture HC, basemap, MapSource Trip & Waypoint Manager software, USB cable, wrist strap, quick start guide, user’s manual.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great unit for geocaching
We purchased this unit for geocaching and absolutely love it. Battery life is excellent. Very accurate and easy to use. The only downside is that Garmin does not support linux.

5 Stars Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS Receiver
This GPS Receiver was purchased to replace an earlier model that had been successfully used by Wycliffe Bible Translators survey teams in Indonesia. These teams frequently travel on foot in tropical jungles or by boat up uncharted rivers to reach people groups whose language has not been previously documented. This Garmin GPS Receiver is an invaluable navigation tool that “survives and thrives” in very challenging environments.

3 Stars Fun Toy.
Its best if you get the next one up in the range so that you can add memory to it. Otherwise you can’t upload maps to the paltry memory that’s built in.

You can, however, upload waypoints which is OK.

As a beginners first step its OK but after a day you will want the extra memory.

Also, it had a tendency to switch itself off after being left on. Annoying if you are tracking your movements over a day.

4 Stars good unit
Lots of commands and capabilites – beware that you need maps to make this truly useful, but they can be downloaded for free from garmin.com

5 Stars Great for geocaching
I purchased this gps for geocaching. It is the first one I have ever used. My husand was very helpful as he has a gps but I feel that it is user friendly and the directions were easy to follow. Downloading the geocache location is very helpful.

GARMIN 010 10997 00 Heart Rate Monitor

GARMIN 0101099700 Heart Rate Monitor. This digital heart rate monitor continuously tracks heart beats per minute which is wirelessly transmitted to the Forerunner 50. Effectively tracks and records your heart rate while you work out, providing instant feedback about how hard your heart is working. Even train in a certain heart rate zone to improve your fitness level. For Garmin Forerunner 50 ONLY.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great Product
This seems like an excellent product to me. It was simple to set up with my Forerunner 305, the watch finds it quickly every time I go out for a run, and it provides more interesting data on the Garmin Connect site. If you’re a fan of running data, I highly recommend the product. I just need to start running more again to make it truly worth it.

5 Stars Excellent heart rate monitor
I have used this with my Garmin Forerunner 305, Forerunner 50, and Forerunner 405cx. Just wet it with saliva or water before you start, and it accurately and easily tracks your heart rate. The strap that attaches it to your chest is easily adjustable and easily removable. Unlike other products, my heart rate does not “jump around” 10 or 20 beats. The battery lasts a good amount of time and is easily replaceable. This is the best heart rate monitor that I have used, and I prefer it to Polar.

4 Stars Works great.
I just turned on my 405 (held the “training” button) and it was recognized before it located satellites… It takes a bit getting used to wearing the strap around your chest, but it provides very good info… It is encouraging to see I can do the same run at a faster pace, with a lower average heart rate!

5 Stars Great Replacement
This HRM was a replacement for a Garmin Forerunner 305. It was easy to setup and works perfectly!

5 Stars Garmin Heart Rate Monitor
It works great. Once I figured out how to add the heart rate field to user screen in my GarminGPS. It was too simple!

2 Stars Broken Clip
Had this for about 3 months and went to take it off and the zip tie style clip broke off in my hand making the strap totally useless. Was difficult to get it tight enough to hold the GPS as well. Would not recommend.

1 Star Not Secure Enough for Most Bikes
This is not a reasonable GPS mount for a bicycle. While the item itself is sturdy enough, the ball-mounts on most GPS brackets are not strong enough to survive the kinds of jolts to which typical bicycle handlebars are subject. Three miles of riding was all it took to send my Nuvi skidding across the pavement. This particular mount also positions the GPS way out from the handlebars, amplifying vibration and calling attention to itself.

4 Stars Convenient BUT …. you better use some super glue
I have used this mount for two bike rides. It is easy to put on and remove from my bike’s handlebars and performed fine. However, because it uses the standard garmin ball in cradle design, I am constantly nervous that a road bump will send it flying. This concern was confirmed when I stopped riding and used my bike’s kickstand and my bike fell over. The garmin with cradle flew off the mount’s ball. Luckily the bike was on the grass so no harm occurred to the gps. But if it had hit a sidewalk, it could have been toast. Obviously you could make the claim that no mount is perfect and this uses the standard garmin issue cradle. So you don’t have to spend much money to get your gps on your bike. But I would only use this mount again if I glued the cradle to the mount. I think this is a good solution to the problem. Unfortunately for me, there are no replacement cradles on the market for the nuvi 500. You can find replacements for the 200 series cheaply on ebay. Because I need my nuvi 500’s cradle for the car, I can’t glue it so I have ordered a Ram cradle and bike mount. I know the Ram cradle is secure since I use one on my Honda Silverwing.

2 Stars good while it lasted
I bought one of these handlebar mounts and it worked good until the release that loosens the strap broke off. It is probably great if you can put it on and leave it or put on and remove a few times. I would say I put it on and removed it probably around 6 times.

5 Stars Very good motorcycle mount
This unit is a lot smaller and less bulky than I thought it would be from the pictures provided. I have only used the unit for a couple days, but have put about 80 miles on my motorcycle with it, and it works great! No problems at all, and the gps didn’t shift at all while riding (my bike doesn’t have a lot of vibrations though). I hope that it keeps working this well in the future, I am definately satisfied with the purchase.

Unit was shipped quickly. I have posted a few pictures of this product in use on my bike to help other customers get an idea of what it looks like on the bike.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Power button?
I’ve owned Garmin Nuvi’s before and they are great! And with the nuvi 500 I got free map upgrades when i registered it.

The only issue I have with the 500 is the power button. Most of the other models have a sliding button that prevents accidental turn-ons and turn-offs. With the 500 its a push button that only needs one tap to turn on. For a all purpose unit that is put into pockets and backpacks, this is annoying because it gets bumped and turned on wasting battery life. I dont understand Garmins logic behind the power button on this model.

4 Stars Good Choice
I purchased this item 6 weeks ago and have used it mostly for geocaching but my son used it in the car and it has functioned well for both of us. It has served me very well in caching, the points seem to be accurate as I compared it to my sister’s smaller gps (I can’t remeber what kind she has). The only thing I haven’t figured out yet is how to delete my caches once I have logged them and want to get rid of the info but in all fairness, I haven’t called the help line either. If you want a gps for more than one function, it also has a bicycling mode on it, this seems to do well.

1 Star Poor customer service
I based my one star rating on extremely poor customer service and the fact that the Nuvi 500 is NOT updated for 2008-2009. When I called to ask for the update I was told due to the topo and other map features on the Nuvi 500 there is no update yet. The best part was when the customer “service” rep asked me why didn’t I get the 550?

I was directed to a more senior rep’s answering machine. Of course I have received no return phone calls, nor return email. It is like sending into a black hole.

Unfortunately I am stuck with this now as Amazon won’t take returns after 30 day without big penalties.

I will never buy another Garmin product.

5 Stars Good price, great Performance
I have had this GPS for over a month now. It works very well. It replaced a much older GPS of another brand. It cost almost half as much and does much more. It is nice for walking as well as driving. It fits in a shirt pocket. I recommend spending a bit more for this model than the less loaded model.

4 Stars good all-around gps
I’ve used my nuvi 500 for mototcycling (with RAM mount), geocaching, and in the car. It’s been on the bike in driving rain without problem.

The Bad: Only car charging cable included. A standard, inexpensive USB cable will transfer data with a computer…but won’t charge the unit. Lack of magnetic compass hurts geocaching capabilities. No headphone jack. Maps don’t differentiate between a good gravel road and a dirt path that requires 4wd and a winch. POI’s are missing many long-standing establishments. Even after doing all the auto updates, mine still doesn’t speak street names. Where’s the manual?

The Good:

It has saved my bacon on several occasions and despite some shortcomings, I’d buy the same unit again if I lost this one. You can buy GPS units that will do any one job better….but it’s tough to find one that will do a passable job at all of them.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great
Handy device. I use it several times a week. Very happy with all aspects of service.

5 Stars Works as it is supposed to work!
I’ve owned a Garmin e-trex Legend for years, but recently wanted to mount it to my bicycle. This mount was quickly and easily fixed to the handle bar. The quick-release of the GPS is handy, allowing me to remove and re-attach the GPS. This was certainly worth the purchase!

1 Star doesn’t fit Garmin eTrex Legend Cx
I purchased the bicycle mount for my Garmin eTrex Legend Cx and it doesn’t fit! The back is made for some other model.

4 Stars This mount doesn’t work on the newer vista gps
The mount itself is an excellent item however, if you do not have the screw in adapter for the back of your Vista GPS x model it will work. the problem is that the extra room that the slot for the memory card takes prevents the back cover from fitting correctly. I am sure you could notch it out to fit but that would compromise the seal. It also would not look nice as the cover is smaller than the unit itself. I was fortunate to have the screw adapter for both of our units. Plan on heading out on the bikes to geocache after church tomorrow.

5 Stars Perfect for eTrex Venture HC
I used this mount with the Garmin eTrex Venture HC, the back cover fits securely onto the unit, although you will notice it is slightly narrower than the original cover. The handlebar attachment comes with two rubber pieces I used the thinner one due to the thickness of my handlebars but the larger piece will accommodate a thinner handlebar. I noticed another reviewer mentioned it did not hold the gps in place. One thing you have to be aware of is that the tab on the back cover clicks into place once you slide it onto the handlebar mount. I took it out last night on a rough downhill trail and the gps stayed in place. If you have the eTrex Venture HC this is the mount you need.
