5 Stars Great Product (works on motorcycles too)
I ordered two of these, one for myself and the other for my father. I also installed both of them an our bikes and they work perfectly.
As far as installation goes, I would recommend using a fuse tap (such as an add-a-circuit) from and auto parts store so that the converter box in the line doesn’t drain the battery if you don’t ride for a while. You may find, however that your fuse circuit is still hot because you may have relays on your fuse box, in that case, I would recommend installing a switch with the hot wire running into the fuse tap so that all you need to do is flip the switch off and the converter box will not use up your battery.
I don’t think the converter box uses up that much power, but if it is directly connected to your battery (or you have the fuse tap in a hot circuit ((by hot circuit, I mean that it is getting power even with the ignition off)) ), the converter box IS using power constantly, so that is why i recommend using a switch or a fuse tap to a switched circuit (meaning a circuit that is not receiving power when the ignition is off).
make sure you ground everything you install, or it won’t work, and make sure every new line has a fuse (why i recommend the fuse tap).
If you install a switch, you will have to ground the switch as well as the converter box, or the setup will not work.
If you have any question for motorcycle install, feel free to ask… I know how difficult it can be to find answers to these questions, but fortunately i found a setup that worked for me and my dad.

The mini USB connector is somewhat smaller than the cig. lighter connector USB standard with the garmin GPS. The L shape does not allow for direct connect through the access hole of some RAM mounts sold by Amazon for motorcycle hookup. This is a problem, I’m not quite show how I’m going to resolve.

Have a Navigon 7200T, which does not have an official hard-wire option. After scouring the net for solutions, I came up with the Gilsson gusb5v-b. Amperage and connection matched – had a stero shop do the install – works great! No problems and the dashboard looks a lot cleaner than it did with a 12v coiled cord going to my power port. Shipping and delivery was favorable.

1 Star Will not power my 760
Maybe I’m missing something but this unit will not power my nuvi 760 or my daughters. I tried two to eliminate the issue of a bad GPS. The GPS unit just goes into mass storage mode when ever the power supply is connected to the USB port. If anyone knows what I need to do to get it to work on a nuvi 760 please drop me a line at dsprague at zoominternet dot net. I did enter the hidden menu by touching the battery icon for several second then plugged in the power supply but the gps still reverts back to mass storage mode when it is restarted. Also the green light on the power supply never illuminates but since there were no instructions included I’m not sure if it is supposed to be on whenever power is supplied or when the GPS is drawing power. The unit was wired directly to a 12 volt battery to test and eliminate any lack of power or ground supply and still no go.

I already installed the cable wuth the whaterproff mount froim ram mounts…rided but 12 hours…i can even put my cellphone to charge… (this was discharged by the used of the bluetooth with the gps…)

The bean bag is handy and stays put on the dashboard. It is convenient to use and exactly want we needed.
5 Stars It Just Works!
It works just as advertised. Put it on the dash, the console, the passenger seat and it just stays there – period. Hard braking or cornering makes no difference, it stays put.
My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is I wish it were a bit smaller – but if were it might not work as well. That said it fits in the glove compartment with my TomTom attached, so I guess it’s small enough.
4 Stars Bean bag mount goes anywhere, stays anywhere!
It doesn’t matter which car I drive, my wife’s Crysler van or my PT or my Classic Harley, the bag stays in place on the dash somewhere and I can see my GPS. I coupled this with the Low Profile mount and it works awesome!
5 Stars Over a year of use, still never an issue…
This is the only product of this type I’ve ever owned and I have no reason to look anywhere else for a different style should I ever need another. Love the large footprint… and the fact that it stays where you put it. I own an Xterra which has a relatively narrow dash, as a result I have two corners hanging off the edge of the dash. Still not an issue, the thing stays put. Have been very happy with the product… youll be happy too~!

So far seems to be OK. It holds my Garmin fine and it has not lost its traction or its load. It is a little bulkier that I thought it was going to be and that is the only reason for 4 out of 5 stars.

The internal battery of my Magellan 3100 died after only 18 months without being exposed to extreme heat or cold. Emails to Magellan were not answered.

OVERALL THIS IS A GREAT BUDGET FRIENDLY GPS. I HAD MINE FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF. AFTER BEING DROPPED ABOUT 50 TIMES, MY CHARGER INPUT COMPLETELY BROKE OFF INSIDE THE UNIT. MY WARRANTY WAS UP, SO IT IS JUST A GPS SHELL NOW. THE OS IS NICE BECAUSE YOU CAN INPUT ZIP CODES UNLIKE THE COMPARABLE GARMIN. MAP MAY NEED SOME UPDATING, AND THERE IS NO TEXT TO SPEECH, BUT IT WAS STILL FUNCTIONAL FOR IT’S PURPOSE.

Excellent product and does a great job. Have not had it “slip or slide” at all. Fantastic product and sure beats puting your GPS on the windshield, and leaving a mark on the windshield to tell felons that you have a GPS stashed away in the car.
I highly recommend this product to all.

it does not hold my GPS in place. My GPs kept coming out of the base. Finally i had to glue my GPS with the base .
5 Stars California Changes Law
For the folks that may be buying a dash mount in California to stay lawful, the law has changed effective January 1, 2009:
“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill allowing drivers to take advantage of technology intended to help with navigation. It takes effect Jan. 1, 2009.
State law now (2008) prohibits anyone from driving with objects or materials placed, displayed, installed, affixed or applied upon windshields. Exceptions are made for such items as rearview mirrors, toll road transponders and small stickers.
The new law, previously SB1567, allows global positioning system devices to be affixed to vehicle windshields in specific locations.
Portable GPS devices will be permitted to be mounted “in the seven-inch square in the lower corner farthest removed from the driver.” They also could be installed “in the five-inch square in the lower corner nearest the driver…”

This one could not hold on to the GPS at all…
The GPS kept falling, after few times the GPS stopped working and eventually I had to send the GPS for replacement.
Then I bought GPS accessory for holding the GPS, though slightly more expensive than this one, it is worth it.
Instead of wasting money on this one, I advise people to go for original GPS accessory. This one costed me around ~$20 and the one from Garmin costed ~$27 (both with shipping).
Actually I am not able to rate it with zero(0), so I had to give atleast a 1 star to post this comment.
