Enjoy the advantage of GPS mapping on the golf course with the GolfLogix GPS-8 handheld unit, which calculates and displays distances to the front, center and back of every green along with hazards. The most precise, durable and user-friendly golf GPS on the market, this new version of the GolfLogix now recognizes what course you are playing automatically.
You get the distance to the front/center/back of green for each hole. |
The GolfLogix GPS-8 includes Garmin’s high sensitivity, 12-channel GPS receiver which ensures faster satellite acquisition time and superior accuracy. Nicely compact in your hand, it weighs 5.3 ounces with batteries and measures 1.2 inches thin. The case is 100 percent waterproof (submersible in water per IPX7 standard tests) and is shock-proof and impact-resistant for rugged outdoor use. The large LCD screen (1.25 by 2.25 inches) has a 64 x 128 pixel resolution and features excellent visibility in direct sunlight with adjustable screen contrasts and backlight screen setting for dark playing conditions.
Wherever you are on the course, GolfLogix displays the key distances to hazards and the green in big bold numbers all on a sleek black palm-sized device. The screen advances automatically to all of the targets on the golf course so there are no buttons to push or lasers to point during your round. The GolfLogix GPS-8 can store the following data on each hole: front/center/back of green; hazards; bunkers; water; lay-ups; and carries.
Easily download course data using the GolfLogix software, and store up to 20 courses in the GPS-8 at one time. |
The included, simple-to-use software lets you download up to 20 golf course maps on your unit at one time. Simply connect your GolfLogix GPS to your personal computer, and the software walks you through a few easy steps to download golf course maps from the GolfLogix database of more than 15,000 golf courses. The software is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista as well as Mac OS X (Tiger/Leopard). What are the advantages of GolfLogix GPS versus other yardage devices?
A handheld GPS device, such as GolfLogix GPS, offers more flexibility during a typical round of golf. You can bring the GPS to the ball and get more accurate distance data. Unlike other laser devices, there is no need to point and aim or have a direct line of sight to the hazard or hole.
How do I get golf course maps on my GolfLogix GPS?
Included with your initial purchase is access to download a single golf course map of your choice. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Quick Start Guide located in the box to download the Course Manager Software from the GolfLogix Web site. Then follow the registration and activation screens on your computer to obtain your free golf course map. With a $29.95 annual membership, you can download an unlimited amount of golf courses worldwide (currently more than 15,000 in the database) and have access to GolfLogix product enhancements and upgrades.
Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations?
The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds.
What’s in the Box?
GolfLogix GPS, USB cable, belt/bag clip, 2 AA alkaline batteries, printed instructions

4 Stars glad I bought it
works – sometimes drops signal during round – Air Force Academy; yardages sometimes off 5 yards when comparing to course yardage and other devices; it has helped my score, especially when in the rough where yardages aren’t clear.
I like it a lot. It has helped me score better.
1 Star Works well but no support
I purchased this product and used it for a year without any problems. Then it wouldn’t connect to the internet. When I contacted user support they told me my membership had been cancelled. I received absolutely no notice that my membership was due to expire or given any opportunity renew it, which I would have gladly done. Now they tell me I can’t renew without getting a new email address. Since they didn’t give me any notice with my old email address I assume I will have to get a new address every year. I will probably do this but I’ll never purchase another Golf logix product again. They are obviously more interested in selling the product than providing after purchase support.
4 Stars Not Bad
The unit itself is easy to use …. some problem getting signed in with Garmin
Batterey life is poor with rechargeables … one round of golf with regular batteries.
I give this a 3 1/2 on a 5 scale
5 Stars Great Golf Companion
Shortly after I purchased this item and downloaded several local golf courses, the GPS started working automatically. By that I mean I live close to a golf course and it automatically located it and said I was 650 yards from the first hole. What a great tool and so easy to use. Downloads are easy and fast. Accuracy is very precise. I would highly recommend this item if you are in the market for a golf GPS
4 Stars Great device
I think the GolfLogix GPS is a great device. I really like the distances over bunkers and water or other hazards which most of the other devices on the market do not show. And it really is waterproof – I was caught in a sudden deluge a few weeks ago and the device was not harmed at all by the soaking.

5 Stars Notable supplement to GPS devices
Regardless of which GPS golf device one might have purchased, this rangefinder provides valuable distance clarifications on any course one plays. Initially I was convinced that this would be an unnecessary additional device since my GPS technology was designed to address all my needs. After purchasing this rangefinder and using it on several different courses, I realized that often times the exact yardage quoted by a GPS are off by as much as 10 yards. For the price, this is a great addition to one’s golfing accessories.
5 Stars Awesome!
After much research and user feedback on these devices, along with careful consideration of available GPS devices, I decided on purchasing the Leupold GX-1. I can say I am quite pleased with it’s function and usability.
It’s small, easy to use and handle, and very accurate.
Anyone in the market for one of these devices would do themselves a favor by picking up the GX-1.
5 Stars Amazed with the Pin Seeker ranging
Why get a range finder instead of a GPS? I bought the range finder to help me with distances I hit my clubs. The driving ranges around me are not marked very well and grass tees are always being moved. I use the range finder at the driving range before the match to adjust my yardages. This helps because I am not that consistant on how far I hit the ball yet. On the windy days on the range you can start to get a feel for how much the wind holds up or pushes each club. I hit the ball high and this can be quite and education. Another advantage I have found is know the real range to the pins. I have seen courses where the pin color indicates a front location. When you get to the green pin is in the middle. On most greens this is not an issue. On a new course we used the GPS numbers and hit to the front of the green. The green was long and started very narrow. We all ended up at least one club short of the pin.
On the course I was able to get ranges on flags that I had not counted on. I have been able to range to the flag with only being able to see the top flag portion over the horizon. I have also been able to range to the yardage poles in the fairway. It is fast and easy to use and I have been amazed with the items I have been able to range.
5 Stars Great Product – Best range finder
I did research between multiple range finders and different 3rd party reviews and ratings. This was consistently one of the best according to the reviews and ratings. I love this range finder. My friend has a buschnell and that takes around 30 seconds to get the reading back. This product takes a second to get a reading back which helps out with pace of play. Can’t say enough about this product. This is the best range finder out there for its price.
5 Stars Perfect for me
A lazer range finder works on all courses which is why I chose it over a GPS locater. That said this unit is perfect. Crystal clear and accurate it’s lowered my strokes bigtime. Some may find it difficult to hold without shaking but propping it on the cart or even a club to gain the steady hand will quickly resolve that issue. It’s a rugged little unit which attaches perfectly to my bag and has taken all kinds of gentle abuse.
