1 Star Don’t waste your time buying the Maestro 4350
I am currently on my 3rd and last Magellan Maestro 4350.Each one I have been sent will freeze up and not work until reset.Frustrating after you have spent 2 or 3 hours route planning and then loose it all.Great unit if they could get this resolved. All of this is happening after the software / firmware update.

1 Star Waiting for a replacement
The Magellan Maestro 4350 was broken right out of the box. I tried to use it on a trip to Stroudsburg, Pa. First it would not accfept the Building number of the motel. Then I set it just for a routing to the city. We left on the morning of 9/14 and within 2 minutes it started showing the demoration tour of what the unit can do. I reset it and the same thing happened. This kept happening about 6 times until we turned it off and put it in the trunk.

I am however, very impressed with customer service. They are sending me a new one and all I have to do is send the old one backwithin 30 days using the UPS label that the emailed to me.

I will try the new one out before I send the defective one back.

So far this is a great GPS. It replaces my TomTom 300, which finally gave me error messages, and TomTom’s only way of getting map updates is not online – which again gave me error messages!

The documentation for this GPS is awful, and should be written by someone who actually uses this item. Magellan can improve this product by making the battery level an icon. It’s noplace to be found – just the error message that you’re battery level is low and we are about to shut down. I have searched high and low for an icon (which my TomTom had) and there isn’t one – except on the pull down screen. The points of interest are way to generic – you would have to get all banks – not just you’re bank; all restaurants, instead of your favorite bagel and coffee shop.

Oveall – this is a far superior product. It’s easy to use – once you figure out how to use it. My only complaint is that you can’t even figure out from the documentation how to recharge the battery; nor can you figure out how to update the thing. UGH

5 Stars Great peice of equipment Magellan 4350
Magellan Maestro 4350 is one GREAT peice of equipment. It’s always right on the

money on its directions and such. The first time I used it it was easy to use and

has many features that I may never use, but they are there if you would want them.

The screen is great, nice size and very readable both in the sunlight and night. I

really love this as it’s great to work with. It always knows where you are..

THE BIGGEST GRIPE:

UNIT FROZE WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND DON’T KNOW WHICH EXIT TO TAKE. A FINE TIME TO DIE WHEN I NEED IT THE MOST! UPDATING SOFTWARE DIDN’T HELP!

The Pros are:

a. Ding dong bell chimes alerting you to make the turn.

b. When typing address, keys grayed out when there is no such name combinations.

c. Nice big screen display.

d. On off switch turns on with a light touch.

The Cons are:

a. Arrived at destination on the wrong side of the road. That is: GPS claims the store is on the right while it is really located at the left side.

b. Choices of Woman’s voice & pitch are limited. Like better sounding voices.

c. Some street names are still not listed in this unit while it has the latest map. This road had been in existence for the past 40 years. Are these people sleeping?

d. Limited volume adjustment.

e. Power plugs to the right side of the unit making it jut out to the side.

f. Delayed reaction when typing names in the keyboard display. Hit the button 3 times & there is no reaction for 6 seconds. Afterwards, the 3 hits all come in at once.

g. Long charging times & short battery life.

WILL I BUY ANOTHER MAGELLAN? ABSOLUTELY UNEQUIVOCALLY NO!!!!!!!!!!!
